The Auction

A superb exhibition of nearly one third of the original hand-coloured aquatints from John James Audubon's magnificent double-elephant folio "The Birds of America", the single most important work on North American ornithology; about half of the original hand-colored lithographs from his Imperial folio "The Viviparous Quadrupeds", the first great all-American color-plate book; and some exquisitely beautiful original watercolors on vellum from Pierre-Joseph Redoute's magnum opus "Les Liliacees", is currently on view at the flagship Arader Gallery at 1016 Madison Ave., NYC, NY 10021.

As with previous Arader Galleries auction, 20% of the proceeds of the hammer price of any sold lot will be made available for donation to one of Mr. Arader's educational program s at The University of South Carolina, The University of Florida, Northeastern University, The University of California at Irvine, The University of Tennessee, Prescott College, Franklin College, the Wildlife Conservation Society, the Robin Hood Foundation and the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Alternatively 10% of the hammer price can be directed to a charity of the buyer's choice. The art museums, libraries and 3600 four year colleges in the United States that create interest in fine art and the decorative arts should be rewarded for creating and maintaining the interest in collecting that is such a major fabric in American life today.
