**JUST ADDED** Original Double-Sided Michael Jackson-Made Artwork "Dancing Feet"
Double-sided drawing on embossed paper. "Seven V Seahorse" and "Moonwalk II" Dimensions: H 40" by W 30"
Looking back on Michael Jackson's unprecedented career, it is abundantly clear that the talents of this extraordinary individual extended far beyond the stage. Indeed, a review of his artwork clearly indicates his talent as a fine artist. Just recently, an important collection of Michael's drawings was gifted to the Children's Hospital Los Angeles in his memory. The following two-sided original drawing is one of the most significant works by the artist yet discovered. The most noteworthy of the two sides depicts the artist's own close-up rendering of his world famous moves as a dancer... the Moon Walk.
Acoustic guitar manufactured by Kay, purchased for Elvis Presley's 11th birthday. In January 1946, Elvis Presley accompanied his mother Gladys to Tupelo Hardware to select a gift for his 11th birthday. As this birthday approached, Elvis had been persistently pressing his parents for a .22 rifle, but Gladys and Vernon Presley had told him that they could not afford the 428 gun. At Tupelo hardware they were waited on by long-time salesman Forrest Bobo. An affidavit written by Bobo in 1979 recalls their visit:
"I remember well the afternoon when Elvis Presely and his mother came into the Tupelo Hardware, when I worked for twenty years. He wanted to buy a .22 rifle and his mother wanted him to buy a guitar. I showed him the rifle first and then I got the guitar for him to look at. I put a wood box behind the showcase and let him play the guitar for some time. Then he said he did not have that much money, which was only $7.75 plus a 2% sales tax. His mother told him that if he would buy the guitar instead of the rifle, she would pay the difference for him. The small amount of money that he had to spend had been earned from running errands and doing small jobs for people."
Bill Williams in his book, RONNIE, published in 1999, relays the history of this guitar in chapter 8 titled "The Unwanted Gift". According to Williams, "Elvis pitched a fit after finally relaxing that a rifle was not to be. For months on end 'The Unwanted Gift' stood silent in the corner of their two room, shot-gun home. There was no time his heavy beating knocked the pick guard from the instrument. Although he had little or no interest in learning how to play a guitar, the rest is history and the best was yet to come!"
Just before his fourteenth birthday Elvis's family moved from Tupelo to Memphis. The family moved several times within the neighborhood, and with each move the guitar was tossed around and mishandled. His years at Humes High School were difficult. He was jeered at and taunted because he looked and dressed so differently – and because he was so shy. Following graduation from Humes, Elvis threw the guitar into the rear seat of an old beat-up Lincoln and drove to the Memphis Recording Studio (Sun Records) where he paid $4 to make his first amateur recording of "My Happiness", a gift for his mother. Williams, in his book RONNIE, writes: "The investment would be undoubtedly the best one of his entire life. Those few minutes behind a microphone represented the making of his very first recording. Thirteen months later he returned to the studio and cut his first commercial record, 'That's All Right'.
Unbeknownst to anyone, this occasion marked the beginning of his path to fame and fortune."
This guitar unleashed and set in motion the career of Elvis Presley – THE ENTERTAINER OF THE CENTURY. It should be recognized as the single most important musical instrument of our time. It is the key which completely changed our society as the "Elvis Influence" not only opened doors for him but also for multitudes of other aspiring entertainers in every country around the globe.
This guitar was immortalized in the life-sized bronze sculpture, "Elvis at 13" by Michiel Van der Sommen, which was dedicated on Aug 9, 2002 by the Elvis Presley Birthplace Foundation, Tupelo, MI
