B&B Carousell Saved!
As of Tuesday morning, August 9, 2005 the Carousell Auction has been cancelled.
The B&B Carousell which has been located on Surf Avenue since the 1930s has been saved. Just the day before the carousel was to go across the auction block, the City of New York made arrangements to buy this important piece of Coney history for a record setting $1.8 million.
The City plans to restore the carousel and move it to another, nearby location. At this time the complete details and time line have not been released by the city.
