Peggy Lee
Peggy Lees unique musicality started taking shape eight decades ago and rapidly brought her to a position where she casually, quietly bestrode the worlds of jazz and popular music. While others came and went, her name continued to stand for subtlety, elegance and individuality.
Presented at this event are three Peggy Lee gowns The Duchess, a rhinestone performance gown, and a gown worn on a 1969 National Educational Television special. The Duchess was worn on the first Nat King Cole show in 1957 and the rhinestone encrusted gown was work during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
In addition to the gowns, Dave Barbour's Gibson Sunburst Guitar. This is the guitar Barbour played on countless Peggy Lee recordings as well as the guitar used to compose many of Lee and Barbour's biggest hits.
